Electrical Outlets

The most common reasons electrical receptacles require replacement is repeated use, from plugging-in and unplugging, and deteriorating over the years.  It’s important that when the time comes to replace an electrical outlet, that you do so in a timely manner and have a qualified electrician replace old and damaged receptacles.

If you’re wondering if it’s time to replace an outlet in your home, here are some signs that the time has come:

  • If the outlet has burn marks, or what looks like scorch marks above the outlet it’s time to replace the outlet.
  • Make sure that when plugging cords into the outlet, the prongs fit snug.  If the prongs are falling out of the outlet because of a weaker hold, it’s time to replace the outlet.
  • When unplugging a cord from the outlet, if you see arching this is a sign it’s time to replace the outlet.
  • If the outlet gets really warm when something is plugged into it, it’s a sign that the outlet needs to be replaced.

Whether you’re interested in replacing outlets in your home because you have one of the symptoms listed above, or simply just want to update the look or function of your outlets, there are a number of different options available.

One option when replacing an outlet is having the choice of color and style.  Our electricians can accommodate a number of different color and style options.

Another option many homeowners find very helpful is a new style of outlet that is one part tamper proof receptacle, and one part USB charger.  In today’s world there never seems to be enough outlets to keep up with all of the high tech equipment we need to charge each day.  From smart phones, to tablets and gaming consoles couldn’t we all use an extra space for charging?  If this sounds like your home, a USB charging receptacle might be just right for you.  Click here if you would like to learn more about the USB charging receptacle.

If you’re in need of electrical receptacle replacement or installation, or would like to have your outlets tested to make sure they’re functioning properly, contact AJ Danboise Electrical at 248-477-3626 or schedule your appointment online by clicking here.
